The Matterhorn, also known as the Cervin, is arguably the most symbolic mountain peak of the Alps. For years, it has captured the vision of both mountaineers, adventurers and artists. It’s towering height, rising aggressively above its surrounding mountain peaks, and it’s awkward shape, twisting near the top, provides the uniqueness which the Matterhorn is remembered by so many. The Matterhorn was part of the “Great Alps Project” which also included Mont Blanc and the Eiger, and was supported by Casol Villas France. It was a difficult climb, a very quick ascent, where we gave everything we had for both the lightning ascent and then of course the descent. We reached the summit in under three hours and thirty minutes, by passing at least twelve groups, ascending a vertical height of 1,218m. We kept the high tempo and pushed ourselves to our limits. It certainly was the most technical climb I have ever undertaken, and I absolutely loved it! At 08:30 on Tuesday August 23rd 2016, our party, consisting of Guillaume Omont and Antoine Labranche, reached the summit of the Matterhorn, the symbolic mountain peak of Europe,with the flags of 438 ETAH and CASOL VILLA fluttering in the wind.
